On October 13th the Illinois Department of Health Services announced the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus as one of 30 Regional Intermediaries for the state. MMC was awarded $1.3 million to sub allocate to various municipal entities to educate and encourage Census participation. The Caucus completed Round One at the beginning of January and is currently ramping up for the 2nd round. The purpose of this grant is to encourage participation in the 2020 Census among the hardest-to-count groups. The grant awarded to the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus has a primary focus on municipal governments and their partnering Complete Count Committees. This funding hopes to augment frontline organization’s efforts, specifically those working with hard to count groups.

Funding for the second round is limited and the grant is expected to be oversubscribed. Due to these factors, the Caucus will prioritize applicants based on need, their strategy to engage identified historically undercounted groups and the comprehensiveness of the overall project scope. The Caucus will prioritize funding for print, events, technology hubs, and boots on the ground.
Grantee Pre-Application Requirements:
In order to join the applicant pool, your municipality must meet the following requirements.
1. Obtain Grant Accountability Transparency Act (GATA) Compliancy
2. Complete Internal Controls Questionnaire
