The Greenest Region Compact is a pledge that was adopted in 2010 by 95 signatories including both municipalities and councils-of-governments. Adopters of the Compact pledged to implement simple environmental actions to conserve water, recycle electronic waste, and conserve residential energy use by using CFL light bulbs. The Greenest Region Compact is currently being updated following a critical assessment and thorough review of environmental sustainability plans, programs, and initiatives at the local level.
