The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus fully supports efforts to eliminate lead service lines and thus, safeguard public health. With the passage last year of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act at the federal level, Illinois continues to have an opportunity to leverage federal funds to assist communities in identifying and replacing these lines.
Caucus Position: The Caucus encourages the General Assembly and the Governor to continue utilizing federal funds and take full advantage of IIJA funding to cover the costs of helping to eliminate lead service lines.
