The Caucus leads environmental initiatives that improve environmental outcomes at the regional level by supporting local action. Through ordinances, operations, procurement, policies, and through public engagement, municipalities can take action to conserve energy and water, reduce waste and pollution, and sustain landscapes. Our initiatives encourage and support these actions and guide them to align with regional and national objectives.
The Caucus’ environmental programs and initiatives are driven by its Environment and Energy Committee. Chaired by Mayor Kevin Burns of Geneva, the committee is comprised of both mayors and municipal sustainability professionals. Our work entails regional and state policy analysis and development, coupled with strategic implementation of environmental actions in communities as supported through programs and grant awards.
