The Mayors Caucus held its quarterly business meeting on Friday, September 26 at the Rosemont Convention Center. In attendance were 63 mayors from the Northeastern Illinois region, in addition to 29 other municipal officials and staff members. Major discussion items included sales tax sourcing rules, public safety pension reform, rail tanker car safety, regional economic development, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed stormwater testing rules.
Featured speakers at the meeting were Governor Pat Quinn and Mr. Bruce Rauner, candidate for governor. Each gave a brief talk and then answered questions posed by Mayor Gerald Bennett, City of Palos Hills, who serves as Legislative Chairman for the Caucus.
Our special thanks goes to both candidates for taking time to meet with the Caucus, and also to Mayor Bradley Stephens of the Village of Rosement for generously hosting us at the Convention Center.
