The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus was honored to receive the “Outstanding Regional Impact Project” Force of Nature Award for the Greenest Region Compact 2 from the Chicago Wilderness. The Force of Nature Award recognizes outstanding individuals/agencies for their work in conservation, restoration, advocacy, and/or educational activities that are inspirational examples for others.
Mayor Mancino of Hawthorn Woods was honored to accept the award. Mayor Mancino said, “The Greenest Region Compact 2 (GRC2) guides municipalities towards sustainable goals and action. It aligns community priorities, builds on existing municipal sustainable best practices, and builds on the collective wisdom of community leaders in the metropolitan region.” Mayor Mancino is an environmental steward of 18 parks for over 170 acres in the Village of Hawthorn Woods. He is also the President of the Lake County Municipal League and the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Executive Board.
