The Illinois Department of Human Services announced that the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus will serve as one of the Regional Intermediaries to sub-allocate $1. 3M in grants related to the upcoming Census. This grant will provide vital funding to local governments and front line organizations that will work to ensure an accurate, fair and equitable count. Many of these entities will be working to engage Hard to Count groups, such as communities of color, children under 5, non-English speaking persons and the aging population. Illinois has allotted more money to Census work than any other state, which is vital as we are in the top three for being most affected in the case of an undercount. We’re excited about the opportunity to administer this funding and we will be in touch on additional next steps for possible sub-recipients.
