The Caucus is proud to extend a complimentary invitation to a virtual workshop, “Empowering Leadership in Sustainability,” on Sept. 14 and 15. The two-day workshop is tailored for municipal leaders and decision-makers and is hosted by the University of Illinois Chicago and the Discovery Partners Institute.

The first day of the workshop will focus on laying the foundations for setting and using a sustainability plan to create a sustainability strategy, and integrating infrastructure resilience with sustainability to ensure communities are prepared for climate events. City of Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns, who is Chairman of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Environment Committee/Energy Subcommittee and Executive Board Second Vice-Chair, will provide opening comments. Caucus Director of Environmental Initiatives Edith Makra will speak during one session.

The second day will leverage these foundations to provide best practices for the financing of green, social, and sustainability projects, as well as for tracking and reporting progress toward sustainability goals, which investors increasingly require. Speakers include municipal leaders, executives from the finance and technology industry, and sustainability experts from academia.
