The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and Planning/Aging are pleased to announce that our Aging in a Changing Region program has been renewed for funding in 2023 by the RRF Foundation for Aging, which has generously funded this program since its inception in 2021.

The Aging in a Changing Region program is notable for building intersectional linkages between municipalities, their physical environment, human resources and elected leadership, aging network stakeholders, and planning and community development partners, in support of municipality-specific Aging-in-Community strategies.  At the core of the Aging in a Changing Region’s community engagements are public workshops where community residents share their lived experiences and ideas in open facilitated discussions.

The Aging in a Changing Region team is committed to expanding the Aging-in-Community practice to a diverse set of communities – diverse in their geography, their demographic and socioeconomic character, their community type, and their level of previous involvement with Aging-in-Community – and we are proud to have worked with these municipalities:

  • 2021 Cohort: Bensenville, Calumet City, Hawthorn Woods, Mount Prospect, and Park Forest
  • 2022 Cohort: Bellwood/Broadview (participating jointly), Highland Park, Maywood, Richton Park, and Yorkville
  • If your community would like to participate, stay tuned for an opportunity to join our 2023 cohort.
