Local Government Shared Services

shared services_more whiteThe Mayors Caucus commissioned a 2013 case study on municipal shared services, with a corresponding 2015 update. We found a number of promising results that encouraged a follow-up study on region-wide shared service projects in order to analyze benefits, obstacles, cost savings and best practices.

In collaboration with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), we have now collected more extensive data on what services are currently being shared throughout the region. The information collected has been used to identify best practices and contribute towards discussions in which we have been invited to participate in with Governor Rauner’s staff and his Local Government and Unfunded Mandates Task Force.
